To guide an assist our youth in their pursuit of personal growth and the meaning of sportsmanship through athletic excellence that will improve the lives of all that are involved
VIG'S (Valley Inter-Community Girl's Softball) is made up of 14U, 18U & 23U teams.
While players age 5-12 play within RASA's "COMMUNITY LEAGUE" almost exclusively against other RASA teams, the teams in the VIG's Division will focus on inter-community competition. The level of competition is a bit more advanced, especially since players for the 14U portion of the VIG's program are most likely in the upper grades of Middle School or in High School, while 18U players are almost exclusively in High School. Additionally, many athletes may have been involved in community leagues for a number of years, and possibly play at an advanced level, such as: Sunday Select, Travel, or Premiere teams.
The VIG's organization has designed some rule restrictions in an effort to balance the level of play, such that the same "Community" atmosphere remains, even though girls will compete against teams from neighboring communities. Some of these rules limit the number of advanced players on a team roster, as well as the restriction to any older High School pitchers not being able to pitch although they can compete and play other fielding positions.
This advanced level of competitive softball is offered as part of RASA, adheres to the rules of RASA, as well as VIG's, and the ASA (Amateur Softball Association). The season consists of play throughout late-spring and early summer, as well as a VIG's tournament during the season, and playoffs which complete in late June for 14U, while 18U playoffs continue into portions of July. The 23U season does not start until June.
